Instrumentation: 2-mallet 4.3 octave marimba

For many years, there have been a lot of mythical stories/tv shows that have a love potion in it. One day I was watching a show with a love potion in it, and I thought to myself, “Do love potions actually exist?” When I searched for what people nowadays consider a love potion, 2 results popped up.

Honey and Cinnamon is based off of one of these so called “love potions” that are used today. Rather than it being a potion, it is actually a ritual where people take a piece of paper, write the name of the person they want to fall in love with them on the paper, pour honey on the piece of paper, sprinkle cinnamon on the honey, and spread the honey and cinnamon around with your finger. 

This piece is fun and upbeat with a sense of someone longing for love through this ritual.
